Whether you are planning a funeral ahead of time or you recently lost a loved one, there are some common elements to a typical funeral. We have many years experience in arranging funerals and will endeavour to make your funeral planning process as straight-forward as possible.
What do I need to know when planning a funeral
There are quite a few steps involved in planning a funeral, with several different choices to be made along the way. Selecting an experienced funeral director is an important step. Still, they can only guide you through several key decisions made during the funeral planning process.
Caskets and coffins
Meany Undertakers is a proud family-owned and operated business. We understand the importance of both quality and relationships with our suppliers. We have long-standing relationships which allow us to stock Guaranteed Irish coffins. Using our relationships, we secure both quality and value from our suppliers. Our casket and coffin supplier is Eamonn Glennon of Longford. We then gladly pass this quality and value onto you.
Funeral flowers
We have long-standing relationships with several of Kilkenny’s best florists. Should your family wish for individual flowers or larger spreads, we can get flowers to meet your needs.
International repatriation to Kilkenny
Sometimes a loved one may have passed away abroad. We will gladly liaise with international funeral directors to bring the deceased home to Kilkenny.
Religious and cultural requirements
We are proud to offer our services for a wide range of diverse religious and cultural services. We offer this range to ensure the deceased’s passing is celebrated in a fashion they would have wanted. Through our years of experience, we have arranged almost every type of funeral, so please do let us know if you have particular requests.
Cremations
Cremations are an increasingly popular choice for those planning a funeral. Should you opt for cremation when we will liaise with the crematorium of your choice.
Records from the funeral
Funerals are an incredibly busy time. You simply won’t have time to meet and greet everyone who attends. That’s why, at all public gatherings throughout the funeral, we will have condolence books in place. Attendees can sign the book leaving their respects for you to read later. For those who are unable to attend in person, we will also offer an online condolence book for each funeral.
Over the course of a funeral, we will often collect mass cards and will provide this with the condolence books in the days after the funeral.
Other requests
We understand that everyone is an individual, both in life and in death. Should you have a special request, do not hesitate to ask us. We strive to deliver you a complete, professional and personal service when planning a funeral.
Should you have any other queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.
